[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Joo-hee] A teenage part-time worker at a highway rest area was indiscriminately assaulted by a customer for the reason of "handing the receipt with one hand."
According to a JTBC report on the 14th, on the 9th, at a highway rest area in Chungnam, a man violently assaulted employee A.
Even after A's mask fell off and he started bleeding, the man did not stop the assault. When a passerby grabbed the man's arm to stop the attack, the man continued with insults and threats such as, "Call the police, you XXX. Even if you kneel and apologize, I might or might not forgive you," "Hey, you jerk. You XX-like guy," and "Did I come here to beg?"
According to A, the man threw punches because A handed back the card and receipt with one hand.
A said, "I was writing in the ledger with one hand and handing the card and receipt with the other, but the customer kept refusing to take them. Even when I said, 'Sir, please take your card,' he didn't accept it," adding, "While working, my biggest worry is that there might be more people like that."
The man who hit A got into his car and left the scene as citizens tried to intervene.
A, who was hit in the face, nose bone, and mouth by the man, suffered severe injuries including significant swelling of the face.
The police are pursuing the perpetrator based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other evidence.
