[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Lee In-young, Minister of Unification, expressed his determination to restore inter-Korean relations, stating that "this is an important moment to put the Korean Peninsula peace process back on track."

On the 14th, in a video congratulatory message for the 'Overseas Young Scholars Academy,' Minister Lee said, "The most urgent task now is to restore the severed dialogue channels between the South and the North."

Minister Lee emphasized, "This is a very important moment to put the temporarily halted Korean Peninsula peace process back on its main track," and noted that the U.S. appointment of Sung Kim as Special Representative for North Korea "sent a clear message of dialogue to North Korea."

Minister Lee stated, "Together with the U.S., more momentum has been created for improving inter-Korean relations, including agreements on continuous humanitarian cooperation for North Korean residents and support for reunions of separated families," adding, "The government is ready to resume inter-Korean dialogue anytime, anywhere, and on any agenda."

On the same day, at the 'Goyang City Kim Dae-jung Presidential Residence Memorial Hall Opening Ceremony' held in Goyang City, Minister Lee also said, "It is time to start dialogue and restore inter-Korean relations so that the Korean Peninsula peace process can move forward again," and expressed hope that "returning to the spirit of June 15, the South and North can build trust together and once again advance peace on the Korean Peninsula."
