On the 10th, employees at Hyundai Department Store Trade Center Branch in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, are introducing the 'Eco-friendly VIP Program.'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Hyundai Department Store is expanding its 'Eco-friendly VIP Program.' This program offers benefits comparable to the entry VIP grade 'Green' to customers who participate in eco-friendly activities selected by Hyundai Department Store, regardless of their purchase amount, twice a year (once in the first half and once in the second half).
Customers can receive the Green grade by participating in at least 5 out of 11 eco-friendly activities that allow them to contribute to environmental protection through small daily practices and getting certified at the customer service desk of each of the 16 stores.
The 11 major eco-friendly activities selected by Hyundai Department Store include bringing unused plastic containers from home, using reusable containers for food packaging, refusing disposable spoons when taking out food, bringing a tumbler to use the free beverage lounge (Cafe H) inside the department store, receiving electronic receipts, and participating in plogging (jogging while picking up trash), among others.
Those selected for the Green grade receive a 5% discount (excluding some items) when purchasing regular products with a Hyundai Department Store card. Additionally, they can enjoy 3 hours of free parking per day at one registered frequently used store. Visiting Cafe H at any of the 16 stores nationwide, including the Apgujeong Main Store in Seoul, entitles them to 4 free coffees per month and invitations to cultural events and fashion shows.
A Hyundai Department Store official stated, "Over 10,000 customers participated during the two-week event last year, and about 1,100 received VIP benefits. This year, we increased the number of feasible eco-friendly activities from 8 to 11 and extended the benefit period from 2 months to 3 months to make it easier for customers to participate."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Department Store is also conducting the 'Life Recycle Campaign,' collecting resalable clothing and accessories from customers at 16 department stores nationwide, including Apgujeong Main Store, Trade Center Store, and Pangyo Store.
