[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] KOTRA announced on the 14th that it will hold a 'Global Semiconductor Industry Trends Briefing' together with the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association to support the overseas expansion of domestic small and medium-sized semiconductor companies and the establishment of cooperative relationships with global companies.
The briefing, held online for three days starting from the 15th, is conducted to provide local information and support partnership discovery amid changes in the semiconductor industry. Semiconductor-related associations, research institutes, universities, and companies from regions such as Europe, the United States, and China will discuss local semiconductor industry trends, policies, and business cooperation plans.
There will also be a special session on the Netherlands, recognized as a semiconductor industry powerhouse in Europe. Bram Nauta, a professor at the University of Twente in the Netherlands and an authority in semiconductor chip design, who will participate as a speaker, is expected to say, "The Netherlands is a strong player in the analog chip field, having invented Wi-Fi and Bluetooth," and "I hope that joint technological research between the Netherlands, with its active semiconductor research ecosystem, and Korea will be further invigorated."
Following the online briefing, video consultations between domestic and foreign companies will be held from the 15th to the 30th of this month. This consultation, conducted in a pinpoint manner tailored to corporate demand, will include participation from over 30 overseas companies, including global firms such as VDL ETG and Ampleon, aiming to establish cooperative relationships with Korean companies.
Kim Sangmuk, Head of the Innovation Growth Division at KOTRA, said, "Semiconductors have now become a core industry of the future in the digital economy and an indispensable necessity in our daily lives," adding, "We will actively create opportunities for cooperation that our companies need in a business environment where industrial convergence is being revitalized."
