[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] IKEA Korea announced on the 14th that it will hold a summer sale offering discounts of up to 70% in celebration of Midsommar, Sweden's representative summer festival.
Midsommar is a traditional Swedish festival held every June to celebrate "the longest day of the year." IKEA plans to introduce Swedish culture to Korean consumers and enjoy the festival together by hosting a Midsommar sale and in-store events.
The summer sale will take place from June 17 to July 6 at all IKEA Korea offline customer touchpoints (Gwangmyeong, Goyang, Giheung, Dongbusan stores, Planning Studio, IKEA Lab) and online store, exclusively for IKEA Family members. Over 600 products, including the Gr?nlid sofa, Lerberg shelf, and Malfors foam mattress, will be available at discounts of up to 70%.
At IKEA Lab, a Midsommar party will be held for IKEA Family members for three days from June 25 to 27.
A large photo wall and pole decorated with flowers will be set up, and attendees can enjoy making flower crowns symbolizing Midsommar and traditional Swedish fishing game Fiskdamm. An event will also be held where participants who upload photos of the Midsommar party on Instagram with the hashtags (#IKEA #MidsommarParty) will be entered into a draw to win IKEA gift cards.
