[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jun-seok, the newly appointed leader of the People Power Party, met with Kim Ki-hyun, the floor leader, and reached an agreement on the appointment of party positions for the new leadership, including the chairman of the Policy Committee. All party position appointments are scheduled to proceed starting next week.
On the afternoon of the 13th, Lee and Kim met at the party leader's office in the National Assembly to exchange opinions regarding the appointment of party officials.
After the meeting, Lee told reporters, "According to the party constitution and regulations, appointments must be consulted with the floor leader, so we exchanged opinions," adding, "We agreed to complete all party position appointments by next week."
He continued, "I informed Floor Leader Kim about the progress being made," and said, "There were no major disagreements, and we agreed to proceed with the procedures within next week."
He stated that a significant portion of the decisions regarding candidates for party positions has been finalized. Lee explained, "We have reached considerable consensus on who will fill the positions, but since there are others who have not yet been appointed, we will follow the procedures and announce accordingly."
He also dismissed reports about confirmed appointments among the candidates for the Secretary-General position. Lee said, "I believe there are no confirmed appointments among the rumored candidates yet," and added, "Considering the presidential election, which is a critical election, I think it is best to have someone with election experience."
