First Janssen Vaccination Death in Daegu... 30s Patient Dies from Blood Pressure Drop Three Days After Vaccination

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] A man in his 30s who received the Janssen vaccine in Daegu died three days after vaccination.

This is reported to be the first death in the country related to the Janssen vaccine after receiving it for COVID-19, causing health authorities to be on alert.

According to Daegu City and the family of Mr. A on the 13th, Mr. A (38) received the Janssen vaccine at a hospital in Suseong-gu on the 10th.

On the first day after vaccination, Mr. A had flu-like symptoms and a fever, and from the next day his blood pressure dropped, so he was transferred to the emergency room of a nearby university hospital on the afternoon of the 12th.

Mr. A received treatment including intravenous fluids and painkillers but passed away around 3 a.m. on the 13th.

Mr. A had previously been treated for a blood-related disease, but the hospital had declared him fully recovered, and his family said he had no particular health issues normally.

The family of Mr. A claimed, “Since his health rapidly deteriorated and he died after vaccination, the relationship between the vaccine and the death must be clarified.”

Health authorities plan to begin an investigation into the cause of Mr. A’s death.
