[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Jo] The number of people receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in South Korea increased by nearly 390,000 on the 12th.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 13th, 386,223 people received their first dose the previous day.
On the previous weekday, the 11th, 792,835 people received their first dose, but the number dropped to about half on Saturday, the previous day.
This is believed to be due to local clinics nationwide entrusted by the government to administer AstraZeneca (AZ) and Janssen vaccines, as well as regional vaccination centers administering the Pfizer vaccine, closing or reducing operating hours over the weekend.
By vaccine type, 256,171 received AstraZeneca (AZ), 17,351 received Pfizer, and 112,701 received Janssen.
The cumulative number of first-dose recipients reached 11,802,287, accounting for 23.0% of the total population of 51,349,116 (as of December last year).
Among them, 7,974,397 received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 3,261,043 received the Pfizer vaccine.
An additional 117,602 people completed their second dose. Excluding the Janssen vaccine, 726 received AstraZeneca, and 4,175 received Pfizer.
