[Photo] Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Attends the 2nd Nowon Youth Reporters Commissioning Ceremony

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the 12th at 1:30 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the '2nd Nowon Youth Reporters Commissioning Ceremony' held at the Sangsang Irum Center.

The commissioning ceremony was organized to review the activities of the 2020 reporters and discuss the direction for 2021 activities, reaffirming new aspirations.

The 2021 Youth Reporters consist of high school students from Nowon District schools including Yonghwa Girls' High School, Sanggye High School, Daejin High School, Surak High School, and Bulam High School. After recruiting applicants and conducting individual interviews, a total of 11 students were selected for PD, reporting, and filming roles.

The Youth Reporters will serve as a bridge between the residents and the district office by sharing youth perspectives on the local community and proposing policies through various methods such as publishing a youth newspaper and operating a YouTube channel.

The commissioning ceremony was held with the attendance of Mayor Oh Seung-rok, officials from Nowon Sangsang Irum Center and the district office, and 10 youth reporters. The event proceeded in the order of opening ceremony, awarding of commission certificates, report on 2020 activities, presentation of 2021 activity plans, mayor’s remarks, Q&A session, and commemorative photo.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon District said, “Youth are members of Nowon District and important partners in creating policies together. I hope that through their witty ideas and active reporter activities, they will become a communication channel conveying the voices of the residents.”
