[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A man in the UK has caused an uproar after it was revealed that he secretly installed a listening device in his neighbor's bedroom. The culprit is known to be a neighbor who has known the victim for 30 years, sparking public outrage.

According to the recent report by the UK media outlet 'The Sun,' Lee Jones (64), who lives in Birmingham, had a close relationship with his neighbor William Nolan (59). Jones would give the house keys to Nolan and his wife when he went on trips, asking them to "take good care of the cat."

One day, while having a meal in the kitchen, Jones discovered a suspicious device taped under the table with black tape. At first, he thought it was his grandson's toy, but later found a similar device by his bedside.

Finding this strange, Jones searched the device on the internet and learned that it was a recording device. Alarmed, Jones immediately reported it to the police, but they said, "There is no sign of forced entry, so additional evidence is needed."

To gather evidence, Jones installed webcams throughout his house. The webcams captured Nolan casually entering Jones's home and replacing the recording tape.

Jones promptly reported this to the police, and Nolan was brought to trial and sentenced to 15 weeks in prison by a UK court. He was also ordered to pay ?300 (approximately 470,000 KRW) in compensation and was banned from contacting the victim indefinitely.

The court described the case as "one of the most serious stalking crimes seen so far," explaining that "Nolan's stalking destroyed the safety of the neighbor's home."

Meanwhile, Jones, who was stalked by a neighbor he had trusted for 30 years, reportedly expressed his feelings, saying, "I can no longer trust anyone."
