Creating a Safe and Comfortable Urban Environment for Citizens through Proactive Measures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 11th that it will conduct a comprehensive cleanup of illegal, old, and hazardous outdoor advertisements from the 14th to the 25th to ensure a safe and pleasant urban environment.
The city is promoting this cleanup to prevent the proliferation of illegal advertisements and to prevent safety accidents caused by summer wind and flood damage. The main targets for cleanup include ▲illegal advertisements (illegal fixed advertisements along roads, banners, air lights, posters, etc.) ▲advertisements for voluntary removal ▲old outdoor advertising facilities. The cleanup will focus on public places frequently visited by citizens, residential areas, and major entrance roads within the city.
From the 14th to the 18th will be the voluntary cleanup notice period, and from the 21st to the 25th will be the intensive cleanup period, during which illegal advertisements and advertisements requested for voluntary removal will be dismantled.
In particular, to prevent safety accidents that may occur due to neglected old and hazardous outdoor advertisements and to reduce the removal costs for business owners struggling due to COVID-19, the city will carry out free removal of outdoor advertisements received during the voluntary cleanup notice period.
A city official stated, “Last year, damage such as signboards falling occurred due to typhoons, and this year, damage to outdoor advertisements caused by wind and flood damage may also occur.” He added, “Through this comprehensive cleanup of outdoor advertisements, we will continue to strive to prevent safety accidents and ensure that citizens can live in a safe and pleasant environment.”
