Yeosu City Holds Premiere of Sixth Web Drama 'Yunsul'

Invitation to the 7th Seoul Web Fest and Submission to the Hong Kong International Short Film Festival

Yeosu City Holds Premiere of Sixth Web Drama 'Yunsul'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, will hold a preview screening of the Yeosu tourism promotional web drama "Yunsul" at Jinnam Cultural Center on the 16th.

"Yunsul" is a pure Korean word meaning the sparkling ripples reflected by sunlight or moonlight.

The story revolves around three main characters: Haeorang, a Silla royal bone descendant who fled to Baekje; Byeolnyeo, the daughter of a Baekje noble family; and Guanwu, a Baekje warrior who is jealous of them. They experience repeated reincarnations and form a love triangle.

"Yunsul" consists of a total of five episodes with a runtime of 45 minutes. Episode 1, titled "The Circle of Fate," begins when Eunbyeol (Byeolnyeo in the present) accidentally purchases a jade ring that Haeorang gave to Byeolnyeo as a marriage proposal in the past, starting a circle of fate that transcends past and present.

Through the continuing episodes 2 "A Millennium Meeting," 3 "Spirit of Yunsul," 4 "Endless Love," and 5 "Jewel of the Five Oceans," the eternal love story of the two protagonists unfolds.

Viewers can also see beautiful Yeosu tourist spots such as Geumodo Bireong-gil, Yeosu Seomseom-gil, Gasari Reed Field, Yeoja Bay Gaetnoeul-gil, and Nangdo Jangsageum Beach, which have become popular non-face-to-face tourist destinations due to COVID-19.

After the preview screening, the city plans to release the web drama on YouTube and Yeosu Tourism SNS "Healing Yeosuya," and conduct various promotions including online and offline events and the production and distribution of emoticons.

Since 2015, Yeosu City has produced and released web dramas annually to promote Yeosu both domestically and internationally. Notably, in 2019, "Dongbaek" won the Golden Wolf Award at the Bilbao Webfest in Spain, and in 2020, "Hojupmong" won the Grand Prize at the Asia Web Awards, raising Yeosu's profile worldwide.

A city official said, "Web dramas are optimal content suitable for promoting not only Yeosu's famous tourist spots but also hidden attractions domestically and internationally in the new media era," adding, "We will continue producing web dramas to establish Yeosu as a mecca of marine tourism and leisure cities."

Meanwhile, "Yunsul" has been selected among 180 works (40 domestic, 140 international) out of 300 entries from 27 countries for the 7th Seoul Webfest (Kwebfest), and is expected to win an award at the ceremony in August. It has also been submitted to the Hong Kong International Short Film Festival and the Los Angeles CineFest in the United States.
