'Retaliatory Driving' Gubonsung, Vice Chairman of Ourhome, Probation Confirmed... Both Parties Did Not Appeal Within Appeal Period

'Retaliatory Driving' Gubonsung, Vice Chairman of Ourhome, Probation Confirmed... Both Parties Did Not Appeal Within Appeal Period Koo Bon-sung, Vice Chairman of Ourhome.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The suspended prison sentence has been finalized for Koo Bon-sung, Vice Chairman of Ourhome, who was indicted on charges of retaliatory driving that damaged another vehicle and pushing a driver with his car to block their escape, causing injury.

According to the legal community on the 11th, neither the prosecution nor Vice Chairman Koo submitted an appeal to the court by the deadline for appeals against the first trial verdict, which was the previous day. Criminal trials require appeals to be filed within seven days from the date of sentencing.

Earlier, on the 3rd, Judge Joo Jin-am of the Criminal Division 15 at the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Vice Chairman Koo, who was indicted on charges including special property damage and special injury, to six months in prison with a two-year suspension of execution.

At the time, Judge Joo stated the sentencing rationale: "Although the defendant's guilt is not light, he confessed to the crime and the extent of the damage is not considered severe. Considering that he reached an amicable settlement with the victim who does not wish for punishment."

Previously, on September 5th last year, around 12:35 p.m., near Hakdong Intersection in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Koo was driving a BMW when a Mercedes-Benz cut in front of him. He then retaliated by overtaking again and abruptly braking, leading to charges of retaliatory driving.

Due to Koo's retaliatory driving, the two vehicles collided, and the Mercedes-Benz sustained damage to its front bumper and other parts. Immediately after the accident, Koo left the scene, but when the driver of the victim vehicle chased him and got out to prevent his escape, Koo pushed him with his car, causing injuries to the waist and shoulder, leading to additional charges.

Koo Bon-sung is the eldest son of Koo Ja-hak, the third son of Koo In-hoe, the founder of LG Group.
