Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province Reaffirm Joint Cooperation to Attract 'Lee Kun-hee Art Museum' to Daegu From the left, Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu, and Joo Nak-young, Mayor of Gyeongju, are seen discussing cooperative measures for overall administrative collaboration on the 10th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Daegu and Gyeongbuk have agreed to jointly cooperate on attracting large-scale national projects such as the 'National Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art' and to promote win-win cooperation across all administrative areas including culture and economy.

On the morning of the 10th, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin met with Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office to discuss issues including the joint cooperation plan for the mutual development of Daegu and Gyeongbuk and the attraction of national projects. Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok and Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young also attended the meeting.

At this meeting, they agreed to jointly respond to the recent large-scale national projects promoted by the government: the tentative 'National Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art' (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the 'K-Bio Lab Hub Construction Project' (Ministry of SMEs and Startups).

Daegu and Gyeongbuk plan to leverage their respective strengths by having Gyeongbuk cooperate with Daegu, which is the center of the Samsung family roots, for the 'Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art,' and having Daegu cooperate with Gyeongbuk, which has scientific, research, and industrial infrastructure, for the K-Bio Lab Hub, jointly responding to the competition with other regions.

To support this practically, an administrative support team for the 'Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art' will be jointly operated by Daegu, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongju to provide active support, and for the K-Bio Lab Hub, Daegu and Gyeongbuk plan to form a joint promotion task force by directly dispatching public officials mutually.

Currently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is reviewing the construction of a separate exhibition hall or museum for displaying the donated works of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee. About 17 local governments are fiercely competing to attract this project. In Daegu and Gyeongbuk, Daegu City and Gyeongju City have expressed their intention to attract it.

Mayor Kwon Young-jin of Daegu said, "The experience of Daegu and Gyeongbuk focusing their capabilities and cooperating with one heart in the competition to attract the Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art and the K-Bio Lab Hub project will not only create a successful case of attraction success but also serve as a valuable foundation for Daegu and Gyeongbuk to avoid mutual competition and grow together in the future."
