[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that it will expand the target items of the agricultural food voucher pilot project.
Until now, the agricultural food voucher could only be used to purchase four items: domestic vegetables, fruits, white milk, and fresh eggs. However, the city requested the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to expand the supply items according to the beneficiaries' demands, and from the 15th, meat, grains, and honey will also be included.
Additionally, from August 1st, the purchase of livestock by-products (intestines, blood, horns, bones) will also be permitted.
However, processed meat (sausages, ham, jerky, smoked duck, etc.), seasoned meat (bulgogi, yukhoe, etc.), ready-to-eat meals (meal kits, retort products), live livestock, white rice, ground grains (wheat flour, perilla powder, etc.), royal jelly, pollen, propolis, beeswax, and others are excluded.
Mayor Park Il-ho said, “The expansion of support items is very welcome to improve the satisfaction of beneficiaries of the agricultural food voucher pilot project,” and added, “It is expected to be a project that signifies the start of nutritional improvement for vulnerable groups, promotion of local agricultural product consumption, and the welfare area of the local food plan.”
