On May 31st, the trainee team from Asia Economy Education Center participated in the ‘Credit Card User Delinquency Prediction AI Competition’ hosted by Dacon and won first place.

The competition, held from April 5th to May 24th, reflected the industry’s on-site needs for financial services using artificial intelligence technology, with the theme of ‘developing an algorithm to predict the degree of delinquency of credit card users based on their data.’

By utilizing personal information and data submitted by credit card applicants to calculate credit scores, the competition addressed practical financial industry requirements where credit card companies use these scores to predict applicants’ future defaults and the likelihood of credit card payment delinquencies.

The competition was open to anyone interested in AI and big data technologies without any qualification requirements, attracting 1,701 participants. The first-place team, ‘Sohwoeuisil’ (Team Leader: Kim Jinyu, Lee Hyunji, Jang Yeji), participated as students of the ‘Fintech Digital Financial Scientist Training Course’ operated by Asia Economy. They applied big data analysis skills, fintech digital technologies, and financial knowledge learned during the course to achieve excellent results in their first competition.

Team leader Kim Jinyu said, “This was my first time properly studying data analysis and also my first time participating in a related competition, so I am proud of the good results.” Team members Lee Hyunji and Jang Yeji also expressed, “At the beginning of the competition, we made many mistakes applying the modules we had learned and felt frustrated at times, but by sharing codes and collaborating as a team, we were able to improve. Through this competition, we realized many areas for improvement, but cooperation and consideration among team members were the most important. It was a valuable time that allowed us to grow one step further. We are very pleased to have won with such good results.”

The Asia Economy ‘K-Digital Training Project’ education program, which produced this award-winning team, is a field-oriented, project-based training curriculum tailored to the rapidly growing demands of the 4th industrial revolution sector companies. It directly incorporates IT skill requirements demanded across all industries into the curriculum. The program focuses on big data, AI, and fintech fields, aiming to cultivate professionals with practical analytical skills and application capabilities based on big data technologies. By enhancing trainees’ technical skills and levels, it is expected that not only competition achievements but also adaptability and technical utilization in the workplace after completion will increase, spreading positive outcomes.

Currently, Asia Economy’s education program operates five classes across three fields: fintech, artificial intelligence, and big data. Recruitment for trainees in big data and AI courses is underway, targeting a June 28th start date.

Meanwhile, Asia Economy Education Center has been operating government-funded training programs for several years, starting with the Youth Employment Academy training course in 2014. Since 2019, it has been running various educational programs aimed at nurturing IT talent in digital new technologies by reflecting current industry trends and technologies.
