Genie Music Releases 'Metaverse Concert Album' by Idol Group ONF

On and Off's 'We Must Love' stage expressed through virtual music content implementation technology

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] Idol group ONF will showcase their hit songs such as "I Will Love You" and "New World" in virtual metaverse (3D virtual world) spaces like glaciers, tunnels, and space stations.

Genie Music announced on the 9th that they will release a surreal VP (Virtual Play) album ONF VP in collaboration with the six-member boy group ONF. VP albums based on virtual reality are considered an alternative to vividly enjoy artists' performances during the COVID-19 pandemic era.

The VP album, into which ONF poured energy over the past eight months, contains five songs including "I Will Love You," "New World," "Why," "Sukhumvit Swimming," and "Moscow Moscow."

Genie Music filmed the ONF members in a 260-degree omnidirectional chroma key studio and then used 3D-VFX (Virtual Effects) technology to create stage settings in a surreal virtual space. Advanced graphic technology realized grotesque glaciers, tunnels, and space stations. The company emphasized that VR technology and directing skills were mobilized to make it the best metaverse performance by highlighting ONF’s strengths such as high-tension performances and charming voices. Additionally, Alpha Circle’s ultra-high-definition 3D-8K VR video technology was applied for clear viewing.

VP users can freely explore the 360-degree virtual surreal space and vividly enjoy ONF’s live performances right before their eyes in ultra-high definition.

Hyojin, leader of ONF’s ON team, left a message saying, “I hope this becomes a meaningful gift to our always thankful and lovely FUSE (ONF’s fandom name).”

The ONF VP album can be experienced on Genie Music’s dedicated VP album player application, ‘Virtual Play.’ Users can download and play the content by entering the authentication code received upon purchasing the album in the app. The album includes an ONF-exclusive HMD that can be attached to a smartphone, a booklet containing photos and a user manual, photo cards, and an authentication code to access ONF VR content. The price is 57,800 KRW. Genie Music plans to invite customers who pre-order to a video call autograph session through a lottery.
