Driver's License Required, Helmet Wearing, Single Rider, Keep Right Edge of Road, Proper Parking
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam, announced the '5 Commandments for Safe Electric Kickboard Use' following the strengthening of safety standards and usage requirements for electric kickboards since the 13th of last month.
The 5 commandments include: mandatory driver's license, wearing a helmet, single rider only, riding on bicycle lanes or the rightmost edge of the road, and proper parking in designated kickboard parking zones.
As of May this year, 7 companies operate a total of 1,865 electric kickboards in Changwon City.
The city has designated about 80 parking zones and is working to enhance the safety of electric kickboard users and establish usage order through a rapid response team and a citizen voluntary monitoring group.
Additionally, promotional materials containing user compliance guidelines and legal amendments have been produced and attached to the handlebars of about 1,800 electric kickboards to promote a culture of proper use.
Meanwhile, regarding electric kickboard use, fines are imposed for violations such as unlicensed driving and drunk driving (100,000 KRW), carrying passengers (40,000 KRW), and not wearing a helmet (20,000 KRW). If children under 13 use the kickboards, a fine of 100,000 KRW is imposed on the guardian.
