Naju City - National Naju Hospital Join Hands to Promote Mental Health of Local Residents

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 8th that it has signed a business agreement with the National Naju Hospital (Director Yoon Bo-hyun) to promote the mental health of local residents.

According to the agreement, the two organizations will establish a mutually beneficial cooperative relationship to support the social rehabilitation of people with mental disabilities and promote mental health projects for local residents by linking various human and material resources such as psychiatric specialists and policy infrastructure.

The city promised administrative and financial support to expand participation opportunities for people with mental disabilities during cultural events such as various festivals, exhibitions, and performances, to discover rehabilitation programs through vocational activities, and to identify and treat high-risk mental illness groups.

The National Naju Hospital plans to serve as a mental health partner for local residents by holding public mental health lectures with residents, a symposium on ‘Creating a Happy Workplace’ for office workers, and photo exhibitions to eliminate prejudice against mental disabilities.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “With the increase in mental health problems such as anxiety and depression among local residents due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, this agreement is even more welcome,” and added, “Through cooperation with the National Naju Hospital, which has mental health specialists and treatment infrastructure, we will eliminate prejudice against mental disabilities and carry out systematic support projects for the mental health of local residents.”
