Damyang County, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 8th that it has begun preparations for the launch of the Damyang County Disabled Sports Association, starting with the review and resolution following its establishment and the awarding of the certificate of appointment to the executive vice president.
Due to COVID-19, the county decided to hold the inaugural general meeting online and reviewed and resolved six agenda items in writing, including the appointment of executives, the regulations of the Damyang County Disabled Sports Association, and the operation regulations of the secretariat.
The executive appointments included appointing Choi Hyung-sik, the mayor of Damyang County, as chairman, and Yeo Un-bok, former head of the Jeollanam-do Physical Disability Association Damyang Branch, as executive vice president. Additionally, three vice presidents, twenty directors, and two auditors were appointed.
Since January, the county has formed a preparatory committee for the establishment of the Damyang County Disabled Sports Association and has been proceeding with the necessary procedures. The association is scheduled to officially launch after approval from the Jeonnam Disabled Sports Association.
Mayor Choi Hyung-sik said, “Through the Disabled Sports Association, we will increase opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sports and create an environment where they can exercise comfortably at any time.
