Gwangju Seo-gu 'Youth UP One-Day Class' Operation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 7th that the Social Value Support Center recently operated the ‘Youth UP One-Day Class’ program.

This program was mainly experience-oriented, producing upcycling products such as card wallets made from leftover leather, can mood lamps, and petit scarves made by recycling neckties, supported by the creative cultural arts group BR Space Infinite Imagination Lab.

Upcycling refers to a method that goes beyond recycling discarded products to create new value and give them a rebirth.

In this program, Seo-gu conveyed the necessity of the values pursued by eco-friendly social economy enterprises and also provided participants with the opportunity to write business plans for eco-friendly projects themselves.

Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Through this program, I hope more young people take an interest in resource circulation and join in practical actions to respond to the climate crisis,” adding, “We will strengthen resident support so that various social innovation activities can be carried out through the role of the Social Value Support Center for social value creation.”
