[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, who is running for the leadership of the People Power Party, criticized former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in and former Future United Party Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok for their remarks related to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, saying there are concerns that they have formed a "dangerous consensus." She argued that they are fostering "division" among presidential candidates by questioning Yoon's qualifications and allegations.
On the morning of the 6th, Na said on Facebook, "When considering the recent remarks of former Chairman Kim and former Supreme Council member Lee, a very worrisome atmosphere is detected. As you know, former Supreme Council member Lee publicly declared that he would definitely bring in former Chairman Kim," expressing her concerns.
Recently, former Chairman Kim expressed apprehensive opinions about former Prosecutor General Yoon. According to former People Power Party lawmaker Ahn Sang-soo on the 5th, Kim said about Yoon, "Throughout history, there has never been a case where a prosecutor directly became president," and added, "Isn't this a time when experienced and seasoned leadership is needed?"
Also, on the 3rd, during a closed special lecture at Kyungpook National University and a subsequent meeting with reporters, Kim referred to the general group of presidential candidates, including Yoon, saying, "I cannot have confidence in myself," and "I will not do anything without certainty."
In response, Na criticized Kim's remarks as a "devaluation" of former Prosecutor General Yoon. She also said, "It is effectively excluding former Prosecutor General Yoon from the opposition's presidential candidate pool."
She also voiced criticism toward former Supreme Council member Lee, a rival candidate for party leadership. After the joint speech meeting in Daejeon on the 4th, Lee stated, "There is no way to cover up when the criminal issue involving Yoon's mother-in-law arises," which Na pointed out as "almost treating Yoon's allegations as established facts," calling it a kind of "defensive diss."
She added, "This is a sure way to lose. Division is the shortcut to the failure of regime change," and argued, "You cannot create a unified opposition presidential candidate by dividing people into those who are acceptable and those who are not." She emphasized, "Now is the time to minimize division within us."
However, on the same day, former Supreme Council member Lee indirectly criticized Na's concerns through Facebook. Lee pointed out, "Around Yeouido, when so-called 'jirasi' (rumor messages) circulate via KakaoTalk as 'received texts,' coincidentally, former lawmaker Na posts similar content on Facebook, raising conspiracy theories." He said, "Either you are doing politics based on 'received texts' or you are consistently creating and circulating 'received texts,'" and sharply added, "Please show your experience and wisdom quickly instead of these things."
