[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] It is a strong performance by Kang Sung-hoon (34, CJ Logistics).

On the 5th (Korean time), at the Memorial Tournament (total prize money $9.3 million) of the PGA Tour held at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, USA (par 72, 7,456 yards), he shot 1-under par over 35 holes on the second day and stood tied for 21st place (2-under par 142). Jon Rahm (Spain) and Patrick Cantlay are tied for first place (8-under par), and Scottie Scheffler (both USA) is in third place (6-under par 138). Due to bad weather the previous day followed by sunset, the game was postponed and some players could not finish their rounds.

Kang Sung-hoon reduced one stroke with three birdies and two bogeys over 17 holes of the first round that he could not play the previous day, making 2-under par, then scored even par in the second round with four birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey. He showed resilience by recovering from a bogey on the 2nd hole with a birdie on the 3rd hole, and from a double bogey on the 6th hole (both par 4) with consecutive birdies on the 7th and 8th holes. However, it was regrettable that he made a bogey on the 17th hole (par 4) after a birdie on the 15th hole (par 5). He is six strokes behind the joint leaders but only two strokes behind the tied 8th place.

Cantlay surged with a 5-under par to dominate the top of the leaderboard. This is his second win of the season and fourth career win, eight months after winning the Zozo Championship last October. Defending champion Rahm improved his chances of back-to-back victories by reducing five strokes over 13 holes. Colin Morikawa (USA), who was the leader the previous day, struggled with 2-over par over 12 holes and dropped to tied 8th place (4-under par). Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) is tied for 8th place, and Justin Thomas (USA) is tied for 21st.

'The Hulk' Bryson DeChambeau and Jordan Spieth (both USA) are tied for 34th place (1-under par 143), and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) is tied for 43rd place (even par 144). From Korea, Kim Si-woo (26) is tied for 43rd place, Lee Kyung-hoon (30) is tied for 53rd place (1-over par 145), and Im Sung-jae (23, both CJ Logistics) and Choi Kyung-ju (51, SK Telecom) are tied for 69th place (3-over par 147). Ahn Byung-hoon (30, CJ Logistics) struggled, tied for 112th place (10-over par 154).
