[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 4th that it will renovate the Dream Message Board at Seoul Library in celebration of the June Month of Patriots and Veterans.
The Dream Message Board, featuring the phrase "We will remember every last one" and black-and-white photos of Korean and international Korean War veterans, was planned to express respect and gratitude to the veterans and to remember their sacrifice and dedication.
In particular, the black-and-white photos are works from "Project Soldier" by photographer Rami Hyun (Hyun Hyo-je), who personally met and photographed surviving Korean War veterans. Since 2017, Rami Hyun has conducted the project, meeting veterans from all over the country including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, Busan, and Gangwon, as well as UN veterans from the United States, United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands. A total of 131 photos are featured on this Dream Message Board.
Through an interview with photographer Rami Hyun on Seoul City's representative communication portal "Seoul in My Hands," the meaning of this Dream Message Board can be explored more deeply.
This year’s special Dream Message Board for the Month of Patriots and Veterans can be seen not only at Seoul Plaza but also on Seoul City’s official SNS channels. In addition to the Dream Message Board, various online and offline contents are prepared to help many citizens reflect on the significance of the Month of Patriots and Veterans.
On this day, a classical performance by the string trio "Trio SB," featuring solemn melodies of mourning, forgiveness, and prayer, will be held at the Hwaljjag Lounge in the Seoul City Hall Citizen Hall.
Han Young-hee, Seoul City’s Citizen Communication Planning Officer, said, “It is because of the veterans who risked their lives on the battlefield that today’s Republic of Korea exists. Although we could not include photos of all veterans due to space limitations, many people around us have dedicated themselves to the country. I hope this Memorial Day will be an opportunity to express our gratitude to them.”
