[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, stated on the 3rd that he will reflect the voices from the field in policies during his visit to youth housing.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, on the 3rd, Deputy Prime Minister Hong visited 'Arts Stay,' a single-person youth housing facility located in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, where he inspected the facilities and held discussions with youth residents and related personnel.
During the meeting, the youth requested an expansion of support for the Buttress Loan program. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Hong said he would carefully review the suggestions raised during the discussion and incorporate them into future youth housing policy development.
He also visited and inspected Anyang Mirae Town, a medium-sized (60?85㎡) public rental housing suitable for families of 3 to 4 members.
On social media (SNS), Hong Nam-ki wrote, "The hotel-remodeled youth housing has a deposit of 1 million won, which is much cheaper than the surrounding one-room market price (20 million won), and the monthly rent is about half, resulting in very high satisfaction among youth."
He added, "Although the supply is still limited, restricting move-in opportunities and resulting in high competition rates, since this is a policy that has just taken its first steps, we intend to push forward more boldly in the future."
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Hong plans to include these details in the economic policy direction for the second half of the year, which will be announced later this month.
