Changwon City Conducts Safety Inspections of Disaster-Vulnerable Facilities in Preparation for the Rainy Season

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 3rd that it will conduct safety inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities in preparation for the rainy season to prevent safety accidents and casualties.

The city will form a public-private joint inspection team to conduct sample inspections over two weeks starting from the 7th on 30 disaster-vulnerable facilities within the jurisdiction, including large construction sites and bridges.

For the remaining facilities, each relevant department will conduct its own inspections to complete safety checks before the full start of the monsoon season.

During the inspection period, risk factors for flood damage and flood control measures will be checked, including cut slopes within large construction sites, underground excavation works, and river embankment construction.

In particular, for large construction sites, facilities to reduce stormwater runoff and facilities to prevent soil erosion on cut slope surfaces will be intensively inspected.

Inspections on the implementation status of supervision duties will also be conducted concurrently.

Additionally, taking the underground road flooding fatal accident in Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan City last year as a lesson, the maintenance of drainage functions will be closely inspected.

According to the results of this inspection, minor issues will be corrected immediately on site, and insufficient sites will be tracked and managed until risk factors are resolved.
