District Operates 'Gender Sensitivity Self-Diagnosis Learning System' to Improve Staff Gender Sensitivity... 16 Sessions Every Tue, Wed, Thu for 5 Weeks Starting This Month's 1st... 3-5 Minute Gender Education Before Work via Saeol Administrative System Access
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is operating a ‘Gender Sensitivity Self-Diagnosis Learning System’ for all employees to promote a mature and gender-equal organizational culture.
The ‘Gender Sensitivity Self-Diagnosis Learning System’ was established by Seongbuk-gu as a non-face-to-face online system in line with the ‘With Corona’ situation, following the amendment of the Framework Act on Gender Equality (enforced on June 19, 2019), which expanded gender sensitivity education as mandatory training for all employees.
All Seongbuk-gu employees participate in self-learning before starting work through gender sensitivity education content linked to the Saeol Administrative System.
A Seongbuk-gu official stated, “Through the Gender Sensitivity Self-Diagnosis Learning System at the start of work, not only can gender sensitivity be enhanced, but it can also contribute to creating a respectful organizational atmosphere.”
The ‘Gender Sensitivity Self-Diagnosis Learning System’ runs for a total of 16 sessions over five weeks from June 1 to July 1. Employees access the system three times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, spend 3 to 5 minutes learning, and then begin their work.
The educational content consists of videos, image cards, and related questions covering topics such as gender-equal organizational culture and understanding gender discrimination. The final session includes a gender sensitivity self-diagnosis process to assess gender sensitivity and enhance learning effectiveness.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, who completed the first session of the day’s educational content, said, “Gender sensitivity education is essential to operate an organization where each member can maximize their abilities.” He expressed his commitment, saying, “By recognizing discrimination, advantages, disadvantages, or imbalances in daily life caused by gender differences, we will do our best to create a gender-equal and mature public service culture.”
