[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 3rd that it will provide microorganisms free of charge to promote the spread of eco-friendly agriculture.

To this end, the city invested 1.8 billion KRW to build a microorganism cultivation center with a total area of 360㎡ within the Agricultural Technology Center, producing eco-friendly agricultural microorganisms (Bacillus bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria), and started free distribution from the 3rd.

The center will produce 1 ton weekly and supply 5ℓ (five 1ℓ individual packages) each Thursday to 200 farmers.

The supply target is registered agricultural operators within the jurisdiction. Applications are accepted by phone reservation one week in advance, and distribution is done via drive-through at the entrance of the microorganism cultivation center.

To ensure systematic supply, the city enacted an ordinance on the management and operation of the Eco-friendly Microorganism Cultivation Center on the 7th of last month, and plans to expand distribution to the general public in the future.

For more details, contact the Agricultural Technology Division at City Hall.

A Gimhae City official stated, “Agricultural microorganisms are used in agriculture to promote crop growth, improve soil, prevent pests and diseases, and remove odors, and the perception that they are safe eco-friendly fertilizers that can reduce environmental pollution is gradually expanding.”
