[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who was permanently banned from Twitter and Facebook for false incitement, has voluntarily shut down the page on his official blog site.

On the 2nd (local time), political media outlet Politico reported, citing a close aide of former President Trump, that the communication page called "From the Desk of Donald Trump" on Trump's official blog site has been discontinued. As a result, this page disappeared in less than a month since its launch.

A person close to former President Trump confirmed in an interview with CNBC on the same day, stating, "This page will not return."

However, the "News" page, where former President Trump posts personal daily life updates and political opinions, is still operational.

Previously, former President Trump actively used major social networking service (SNS) platforms such as Twitter and Facebook as a rallying point to gather supporters. Before his Twitter account was permanently suspended, he had 89 million followers.

However, earlier this year, his SNS accounts were permanently suspended for reasons including "spreading false information." Twitter took this action after the January Capitol riot, citing that former President Trump incited the event. Facebook temporarily suspended Trump's official account and is expected to make a final decision on permanent suspension next month after a review.

Effectively expelled from SNS platforms, former President Trump opened a new page called "From the Desk of Donald Trump" on his official blog site as a new platform to maintain communication with his supporters.

On this platform, supporters could share posts made by former President Trump on Twitter and other SNS or leave comments, serving as a substitute for SNS.

However, due to fewer visitors than expected and the lack of the anticipated impact, it is analyzed that this page was ultimately closed.

According to a report by The Washington Post (WP), the daily average number of shares for posts on this page was less than 2,000. This is a very low figure compared to the tens of thousands of shares a single post used to receive when former President Trump was active on Twitter.

Foreign media reported that Trump's team appears to be developing a new SNS platform. Earlier, Jason Miller, a close aide to Trump, stated in a March interview with Fox News, "Within three months, we will launch a new SNS platform exclusively for President Trump."

In fact, when asked by CNBC on the 2nd, the day Trump's blog page was closed, whether there are plans to launch a new SNS platform, Miller replied, "Yes. Stay tuned."
