[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province will conduct joint crackdowns on illegal roadside garbage dumping in cooperation with related agencies such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport until the 30th of this month.

According to the province on the 3rd, the crackdown targets 13 routes designated by Gyeonggi Province as "special management sections" where a large amount of garbage is generated or concentrated management is necessary. These include five expressways such as the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway and eight national roads including National Route 3.

The joint crackdown team plans to focus inspections on the entrance and exit points (IC), slopes, and other areas of the roads in preparation for the rainy season, checking the cleanliness of road facilities, illegal roadside garbage dumping, traffic accident debris, and shoulder accumulations.

Earlier, in April and May, the province inspected local roads, privately financed roads, delegated national roads, and city/county roads for road cracks and subsidence, proper placement of disaster prevention facilities such as tunnel emergency phones and fire hydrants, and installation of hazard warnings and guide signs.
