On the 2nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that the Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency will begin a preliminary investigation into the dissemination of false information related to Chief Jang and his family.
Currently, posts claiming that Chief Jang's family is connected to Son's death are circulating online.
A police official explained, "It is not appropriate for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to investigate the spread of false information about the police chief, so the neighboring Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency has started a preliminary investigation."
