[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver Certificate is rapidly growing, especially among MZ generation users (born between 1980 and early 2000s).
Naver announced on the 31st that the number of Naver Certificate subscribers surpassed 10 million last week. Since its launch in March last year, Naver Certificate has quickly dominated the certificate ecosystem, reaching 4 million subscribers in March this year and 8 million in April.
Naver Certificate is highly popular among the 2030 generation, who are familiar with mobile environments and prefer non-face-to-face methods and convenience. The company explained that 54.4% of Naver Certificate users belong to the MZ generation as it expands partnerships in the education sector.
Recently, about 40,000 students from six cyber universities (Sejong, Konyang, Global, Kyunghee, Seoul, Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) are actively using Naver Certificate for on-campus services such as attending lectures, course registration, and taking exams. Many schools are preparing to build next-generation authentication systems.
Recently, Naver signed a business agreement with Woori Bank and Yonsei University to establish a ‘Smart Campus Project and Joint Service Development.’ This expands the use of Naver Certificate to university campuses. Yonsei University students will be able to use Naver Certificate for online lectures, attendance checks, and exams. After issuing a Naver student ID, they will also be able to access various offline services such as library and school facility entry and book borrowing via QR code.
With the recent increase in interest in the real estate market among the 2030 generation, the simple Naver Certificate has also gained popularity. Users of subscription services can easily apply for subscriptions and check results without installing separate plugins through Naver Certificate introduced on the Subscription Home. According to Naver, the most used services in the last 30 days were Subscription Home, Civil Defense Education, and National Pension Service, in that order.
In addition, Naver is expanding partnerships in lifestyle service sectors such as Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance, Kyobo Lifeplanet, as well as financial sectors including KB Securities, IBK Industrial Bank, Woori Bank, and DGB Financial Group, and lifestyle services like Emart24, KT, LG U+, CJ HelloVision, Human Resources Development Service of Korea, and Saramin. Since the 27th, Naver has started the ‘Our Neighborhood Vaccine Alert’ service in collaboration with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Naver Certificate can be used to verify personal information of reservation holders.
Oh Kyungsoo, a Naver leader, said, "Currently, there are 29 affiliated partners available on the Naver app, 61 electronic document partners, and a total of 127 partners with business agreements and contracts. We plan to increase the number of partners to 200 this year to further enhance the convenience of Naver Certificate."
