[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Global fan community platform Weverse announced on the 31st that it will open a community for American pop singer MAX. This marks the sixth overseas label artist to join Weverse, following Gracie Abrams, New Hope Club, Alexander23, Jeremy Zucker, and PrettyMuch.
MAX is an artist with a strong fandom based on his husky vocals and wide musical spectrum. His first full-length album in 2016, Hell’s Kitchen Angel, has achieved over 2 billion cumulative streams. The lead single, Lights Down Low, was a major success, reaching triple platinum in the United States and platinum in Canada. In 2019, he released the single Love Me Less featuring Quinn XCII, and was named one of Billboard’s “top pop-stars to watch” that same year.
MAX has also left a strong impression on K-pop fans through collaborations with Korean artists. Following his successful first visit concert in Seoul last year, he attracted attention with his musical collaboration with BTS member SUGA. The song Blueberry Eyes (feat. SUGA of BTS), released in September last year, was written by MAX for his wife, and its romantic lyrics combined with SUGA’s stylish Korean rap maximized its completeness.
Having connected with fans by releasing live videos, MAX plans to communicate more actively with fans worldwide through joining Weverse ahead of the global simultaneous release of his single Butterflies next month.
