[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] On the 26th, it was announced that Sinji-myeon (Mayor Chu Gyo-hoon) of Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, held a commissioning ceremony for the Sinji-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee members on the 25th at the second-floor meeting room of the myeon office.


The selection of Sinji-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee members was publicly recruited from the 12th to the 27th of last month in accordance with Article 17 of the "Sinji-myeon Residents' Autonomy Center Installation and Operation Ordinance."


At the commissioning ceremony, as the first step toward realizing residents' autonomy, the first-term Residents' Autonomy Committee was formed, bringing together diverse members from various sectors. Appointment letters were presented to 25 members, and the background and roles of the Residents' Autonomy Committee were explained. The chairman and vice-chairman were elected through a vote.


Lee Chung-hwan was elected as the chairman, and Kim Jong-ran was elected as the vice-chairman of the inaugural first-term Sinji-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, who will lead the committee.


Mayor Chu Gyo-hoon of Sinji-myeon urged, "I hope the Residents' Autonomy Committee members communicate and empathize with each other, respect and consider one another, and do their best to revitalize residents' autonomy and improve residents' welfare."


Lee Chung-hwan (CEO of Seomirang English Cooperative Corporation), elected as the inaugural chairman of the Sinji-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, "I will strive to make our Sinji-myeon the most progressive Residents' Autonomy Committee that can lead regional development."
