[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 23rd that the LG OLED Evo, released this year, was recognized as the best OLED TV product by the Japanese AV (Audio-Video) specialized media HiVi.
HiVi, established in 1983, is Japan's most prestigious video and audio specialized magazine that evaluates video and audio devices sold on the market twice a year to select products. Recently, HiVi selected the '2021 Summer Best Buy' and chose the LG OLED Evo as the best product among OLED TVs over 61 inches. The LG OLED Evo ranked first, surpassing local brands' OLED TVs such as Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Sharp.
Yoshio Oba, an AV critic and a member of HiVi's evaluation panel, said, "I was amazed by the vivid color reproduction and contrast expression unlike anything I have experienced before," adding, "Even in movies like 'No Country for Old Men' and 'Oblivion,' which I have seen hundreds of times, I discovered backgrounds hidden in dark scenes anew and felt astonished. I was also impressed by the design and the thickness of the main body."
An LG Electronics official stated, "The LG OLED Evo expresses clearer and brighter image quality by combining a next-generation panel with improved efficiency and upgraded image processing technology," emphasizing, "This award is meaningful as it recognizes our outstanding OLED technology leadership, surpassing major Japanese TV companies known as traditional TV powerhouses."
Lee Young-chae, Managing Director of LG Electronics Japan, said, "This award is the result of recognizing our unique OLED technology leadership," and added, "We will captivate Japanese consumers by emphasizing the differentiated viewing experience unique to LG OLED TVs."
Previously, at the end of 2019, the LG Signature OLED 8K also won the gold prize, the highest award of the HiVi Grand Prix.
