[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Department Store announced on the 19th that it will hold the 'Overseas Luxury Season Off' event starting from the 21st, offering overseas luxury brands at 20-50% discounted prices.
Due to revenge consumption following COVID-19, luxury sales at department stores have been rapidly increasing this year as well as last year. Last year, Lotte Department Store's luxury sales grew by 27% compared to 2019, and from January to April 2021, sales increased by 60% compared to the same period last year.
Lotte Department Store will start the season off for brands such as Marni, Loewe, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Dries Van Noten from the 21st. From the 28th, brands including Celine, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, and Giorgio Armani will join, and in June, brands like Thom Browne, Chloe, and Comme des Gar?ons will sequentially begin their season off sales.
They have also prepared an event where Lotte gift certificates are given based on purchase amounts. From the 21st to the 23rd and from the 28th to the 30th, customers who purchase 2 million, 3 million, 5 million, or 10 million KRW or more from season off brands at all Lotte Department Store locations will receive Lotte gift certificates worth approximately 5% of their purchase. Additionally, from the 21st to June 3rd, customers who purchase 3 million KRW worth of gift certificates in cash at Lotte Department Store will receive an additional 3% gift certificate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Along with this overseas luxury season off event, until the 27th, Lotte Department Store’s main branch, Jamsil branch, Daegu branch, and Busan main branch will host the 'Luxury Watch & Jewelry Fair,' where new products and limited edition items of overseas luxury watches and jewelry can be seen all in one place.
At the main branch, the 'Breitling×Bentley Edition,' limited to 25 pieces worldwide, was unveiled for the first time in Korea at a pop-up store set up on the first floor on the 14th. At the Jamsil branch Damiani store, masterpieces set with stones and diamonds in various colors are exclusively showcased in Korea. The Busan main branch Chopard store has prepared a high jewelry necklace worth approximately 1.1 billion KRW, the only one remaining in the world.
Kim Hyera, head of the overseas fashion division at Lotte Department Store, said, "We hope that the season off and Luxury Watch & Jewelry Fair prepared by Lotte Department Store can somewhat alleviate the regret of limited experiential consumption such as overseas travel due to COVID-19," adding, "By utilizing various promotions, customers can enjoy differentiated products unique to Lotte Department Store at more reasonable prices."
