[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Superintendent Jang Seok-woong attended the 41st anniversary ceremony of the May 18 Democratic Movement held at the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery in Gwangju on the morning of the 18th, hosted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, to commemorate the victims.

The day before, Superintendent Jang attended the commemorative ceremony organized by the Jeonnam May 18 People's Uprising 41st Anniversary Commemoration Committee held at the square in front of the Jeonnam Provincial Office, where he delivered a memorial address.

In his memorial address, Superintendent Jang stated, “May is not over yet. We must drive out the forces of historical distortion lurking throughout our society, uncover and publicize the truths of that day that have yet to be revealed, and remember them. This is the only way to repay the debt we owe to May Gwangju.”

Meanwhile, the Provincial Office of Education has designated the period from the 10th to the 21st as the 41st anniversary commemoration week of the May 18 Democratic Movement, continuing various events to honor the spirit of May, and frontline schools are conducting May 18 Democratic Movement-related lessons through relevant curricula and event activities.
