Shaped Like Iljumun Gate, Symbolizing Local Artists' Participation in Construction
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The 'Dongui Gate (main gate)' and 'Bogam Gate (rear gate)', the entrance and exit gates of Sancheong Donguibogam Village, known as the 'No. 1 Healing Spot in Korea,' have been completed.
On the 18th, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced that all maintenance work for the entrance and exit of Donguibogam Village has been completed.
The 'Dongui·Bogam Gates' were designed in the shape of an 'Iljumun' gate, embodying the appearance of entrance and exit gates. They measure 23 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and 13 meters in height.
In particular, local artists participated to add significance. The signboard calligraphy was written by Shin-gu Yoon Hyo-seok, former chairman of the Gyeongnam branch of the Korea Calligraphy Association.
The wood carving was done by woodcarving master and active artist centered in Sancheong, Woo-dam Guseongbon.
The dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork) was painted by Lee Wook, a national intangible cultural asset No. 48 dancheongjang (dancheong master) training instructor.
County Governor Lee Jae-geun emphasized, “Since the first expo in 2013, Donguibogam Village has grown into the largest Korean traditional medicine anti-aging healing theme park in the country, attracting 1.5 million visitors annually. We will strive to develop Donguibogam Village as a global Korean traditional medicine anti-aging theme wellness tourism hub, as well as prepare for the second Sancheong Expo scheduled for 2023.”
