Yeongdeungpo-gu Provides 500,000 Won Zero Pay Gift Certificates to 7,400 Unemployed Youth... Support for Unemployed Aged 19-34 Within 2 Years of Graduation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is providing the ‘Yeongdeungpo Employment Incentive’ to support young people struggling with job hunting due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This employment incentive is a support program for job seekers within two years after graduation.
These individuals had been excluded from various government supports as COVID-19 prolonged, placing them in a blind spot for assistance. The district has initiated this employment incentive as a measure to help these young people overcome the crisis.
Eligible applicants are young residents of Yeongdeungpo-gu aged 19 to 34, born between 1986 and 2002, who graduated between 2019 and 2021 and are not enrolled in employment insurance.
Even if enrolled in employment insurance, those working less than 26 hours per week or short-term workers employed for less than three months can apply. However, university (graduate) students, students on leave, unemployment benefit recipients, and participants in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s 2020 Youth Job-Seeking Activity Support Fund (2021 National Employment Support System Type 1) are excluded.
The application deadline is June 30th at 6 PM. Applications can be submitted through the Seoul Youth Portal website.
Required documents include a resident registration certificate, employment insurance qualification history, and final academic graduation certificate. Short-term workers must additionally submit a labor contract.
Selected applicants will receive 500,000 KRW worth of Zero Pay under the name ‘Yeongdeungpo Employment Incentive.’ The usage period is until December 31st of this year, and it can be used at Zero Pay affiliated stores located within Yeongdeungpo.
The issued gift certificates must be used for job-seeking activities and must be returned if unused within the validity period. Arbitrary refunds or gifting to others are not allowed. For more detailed eligibility requirements and inquiries, please check the Seoul Youth Portal website.
A total of 7,400 young people in Yeongdeungpo are expected to benefit from the Yeongdeungpo Employment Incentive this year. The district believes this incentive will provide relief for job hunting, which has become more difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “The Yeongdeungpo Employment Incentive is expected to provide practical help for young people’s job-seeking activities and also stimulate the local economy through the use of local gift certificates. The district will continue to actively communicate and strive to promote youth-tailored policies.”
