Seoul Gangseo-gu Provides 500,000 Won Employment Incentive for Unemployed Youth

Unemployed Youth Aged 19 to 34 Within 2 Years After Graduation... Online Applications Accepted Until June 11 on Seoul Youth Portal

Seoul Gangseo-gu Provides 500,000 Won Employment Incentive for Unemployed Youth

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will provide a 500,000 KRW employment incentive to local youth who are struggling to find jobs due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

This is intended to help job seekers who are going through a difficult time in the shrinking job market, with reduced job opportunities and fewer new hires, by supporting their job search activities and stabilizing their livelihoods.

The support targets unemployed youth aged 19 to 34 residing in Gangseo-gu who have not been employed within two years after their final education (including dropout, dismissal, completion, or graduation) and are not enrolled in employment insurance. Even those enrolled in employment insurance can apply if they work less than 26 hours per week or are short-term workers for less than three months. However, university (graduate) students, students on leave, recipients of unemployment benefits, those who received the 2020 Youth Job Search Activity Support Fund, and participants in the 2021 National Employment Support System (Type 1) are excluded.

The application period is until June 11, and applications can be submitted through the Seoul Youth Portal.

After registering on the portal, applicants complete a self-check for eligibility, verify residency, fill in information, and submit documents to complete the application.

Required documents include one copy of the resident registration certificate or abstract (including any changes), one copy of the employment insurance qualification history, one copy of the final education graduation certificate or completion certificate, and a labor contract (if applicable). These documents must be scanned and attached during application.

After eligibility screening in June, the final selected applicants will receive a 500,000 KRW Gangseo Love Mobile Gift Certificate, which will be distributed sequentially from the end of June.

A district official said, “We hope the employment incentive will serve as a small stepping stone for unemployed youth to prepare for their future,” and added, “We will continue to devise practical support measures so that young people can freely pursue their dreams.”
