Opening Ceremony of Child Rights Instructor Training Academy on the 14th... Full-scale Education Begins... From May 14 to Late August, 1-2 Sessions per Week, 2 Hours per Day, Free Tuition
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 14th that it held the opening ceremony of the Child Rights Instructor Training Academy and officially started the education program.
Eunpyeong-gu has been conducting child rights education in collaboration with external organizations such as the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. Since last year, through the operation of the Child Rights Instructor Training Academy, it has directly trained specialized child rights instructors and established a system to provide stable child rights education.
The Child Rights Instructor Training Academy education, which opens this year following last year, will be held at Eunpyeong-gu Office from May 14 to the end of August, once or twice a week for 2 hours a day (a total of 40 hours of education, with an additional 4 hours for textbook utilization education). The education fee is completely free.
This education involves instructors and field activists from multiple human rights specialized organizations, including 'Human Rights Education Onda,' Dasan Human Rights Center, Human Rights Research Institute Chang, and Korea Diversity Research Institute. The basic education covers various theories and cases related to child rights education, from general human rights theory to child rights cases and human rights education teaching methods. Afterwards, separate education on the use of child rights textbooks by the Green Umbrella Foundation will be conducted.
Participants who complete the entire education course and the demonstration session will be dispatched as visiting child rights education instructors to schools from the second half of this year. They will act as child rights guardians who promote the improvement of child human rights and the value of respecting children in Eunpyeong-gu.
An official from Eunpyeong-gu stated, “Child rights education allows children to learn what their rights are and through this process, understand that the rights of others must also be respected. This not only fosters healthy citizens for the future but also greatly contributes to enhancing human rights sensitivity among community members, including children.” The official emphasized the importance of promoting children’s rights through child rights education in creating a child-friendly city.
