16 New Deaths in the Past Three Days: 12 Pfizer, 4 AZ
Cumulative Adverse Reactions 21,944 Cases, 0.47% of 1st and 2nd Dose Recipients
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] The number of death reports has increased by 16 over the past three days following COVID-19 vaccinations. Reports of suspected adverse reactions have also increased by about 1,200 cases.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 15th, a total of 1,266 new adverse reaction reports after vaccination were received from the 12th to the 14th. During the same period, death reports increased by 16. By day, there were 5 on the 12th, 8 on the 13th, and 3 on the 14th. Among them, 12 people had received the Pfizer vaccine, and 4 had received AstraZeneca.
By age group, there were 9 in their 80s, 3 in their 70s, 2 in their 40s, and 1 each in their 90s and 60s. By gender, 11 were female and 5 were male. The time from vaccination to death varied, including 1 hour, 14 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, and 13 days.
There were 10 new suspected cases of anaphylaxis, a severe systemic allergic reaction (4 AstraZeneca, 6 Pfizer). Major adverse reactions, including special interest adverse reactions, ICU admissions, permanent disabilities, and sequelae, increased by 88 cases (32 AstraZeneca, 56 Pfizer). The remaining 1,152 cases involved common symptoms such as muscle pain, headache, fever, chills, and nausea.
Cumulative Adverse Reaction Reports Reach 21,944... Cumulative Vaccination Rate 0.47%
Since vaccinations began in Korea on February 26, the cumulative number of suspected adverse reaction reports has reached 21,944. As of midnight on this day, this accounts for about 0.47% of the 4,636,641 cumulative first and second dose vaccinations administered domestically.
Among all suspected adverse reaction reports, 17,693 cases (80.6%) are related to the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 4,251 cases (19.4%) are related to the Pfizer vaccine. The adverse reaction report rate relative to the number of vaccinated individuals is approximately 0.86% for AstraZeneca and 0.16% for Pfizer.
The total number of cumulative deaths in Korea is 119 (58 AstraZeneca, 61 Pfizer). This does not include cases where other symptoms were initially reported at the time of the first adverse reaction report but later worsened, resulting in death.
The health authorities classify adverse reaction cases based on the initial symptoms reported. There have been 197 cumulative suspected anaphylaxis cases (153 AstraZeneca, 44 Pfizer). Major suspected adverse reaction cases total 583 (333 AstraZeneca, 250 Pfizer). Of all adverse reaction reports, 21,045 cases (95.9%) are mild cases commonly occurring after vaccination, such as muscle pain, headache, fever, and nausea.
