2,044,448 AZ Vaccine Recipients, 1,686,773 Pfizer Vaccine Recipients
Total 905,420 Second Doses, 1.8% of Population
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] The number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in South Korea increased by about 9,000 in one day on the 14th, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to over 3.73 million. This accounts for approximately 7.3% of the total population.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 15th, the total number of new first-dose vaccinations the previous day was 9,548. This is about 2,000 more than the 7,139 on the 13th but still falls short of the level at the end of last month when more than 200,000 people were vaccinated daily. This slowdown in first-dose vaccinations is due to a temporary supply imbalance of AstraZeneca (AZ) and Pfizer vaccines.
Total first-dose recipients reached 3,731,221... About 7.3% of the population
As of midnight that day, the total number of first-dose vaccinations in South Korea was 3,731,221, which is about 7.3% of the total population (51,349,116). Currently, COVID-19 vaccinations in South Korea are being carried out sequentially with two types of vaccines: AstraZeneca and Pfizer. Both vaccines require two doses. The AstraZeneca vaccine recommends a second dose at an interval of 11 to 12 weeks, while the Pfizer vaccine recommends a second dose at a 3-week interval.
