County Governor Isangik's Agricultural Policy Promises Progressing Smoothly

Crop disaster insurance is a system that supports part of the economic loss caused by crop damage due to increasing natural disasters to stabilize farm management and ensure stable agricultural production. Eligible applicants are rice farmers (including tenant farmers) or agricultural corporations.

The county will continue to support 90% of the rice crop disaster insurance premium this year, following the county governor's pledge initiated last year.

In particular, this year’s subscription target area is set at 6,594 hectares, an increase of 509 hectares compared to the previous year, and active promotional activities such as posting banners and sending individual text messages are being carried out to increase the subscription rate.

Sixty-seven agricultural facility crops such as chili peppers, sweet potatoes, and green onions can also be insured depending on the cultivation period, and farmers wishing to subscribe to the insurance can visit each branch of the local agricultural cooperative.

A county official said, “Crop damage is increasing due to frequent disasters and the rise in pests and diseases caused by abnormal global weather,” adding, “We hope for much interest from local farmers as this can reduce the burden on farms caused by unexpected damage.”

Meanwhile, last year, crop disaster insurance premiums supported about 3 billion won in project costs for 3,715 farms and 6,084 hectares, which increased by 30% in the number of farms and 11% in subscription area and project costs compared to 2019, helping stabilize the management of rice farming households.
