Jin Seung-ho, New President of KIC

[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] Jin Seung-ho, head of the Planning Division at the National Balanced Development Committee, will be inaugurated as the new president of Korea Investment Corporation (KIC). The term for the KIC president is three years.

According to the government on the 14th, Jin Seung-ho was recently appointed as the 8th president of KIC and will hold the inauguration ceremony on the 18th. Previously, on the 17th, President Choi Hee-nam will have a farewell ceremony.

In March, KIC held a presidential recommendation committee meeting, conducted document screening and interviews, and shortlisted three final candidates. Recently, the Minister of Strategy and Finance recommended Jin, who was ranked first among the candidates, to the Blue House for appointment, and the president appointed him.

President Jin entered public service by passing the 33rd Administrative Examination and served as Director of the International Taxation Division, Director of the International Financial Cooperation Bureau, and Director of the External Economic Bureau at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. From 2017 to 2018, he served as Senior Specialist at the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea. Since 2019, he has been serving as the head of the Planning Division at the National Balanced Development Committee.
