"Reflecting the Trend of Design-Focused Camping Gear, Featuring Stylish Illustrations"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart is launching camping gear that targets the tastes of the 'Campnic (Camping+Picnic)' crowd.

Emart announced on the 16th that starting from the 20th, it will officially sell the 'Bigten×Jeon Hwang-il Camping Gear' at over 120 Emart stores nationwide, as well as on SSG.com and Howdy. The product lineup includes a total of 9 items, ranging from sunshades and tarps to mini benches, camping beds, and camping chairs.

The products being introduced this time were launched after six months of preparation in collaboration with illustrator Jeon Hwang-il, featuring emotional and modern illustrations.

Jeon Hwang-il is an illustrator who draws pictures themed around men's lifestyles and subcultures. He is well-regarded for his unique simple and witty drawing style. Based on this, he has collaborated with various clothing, household goods, and food brands, creating many hit products.

Emart is introducing these collaborative camping gear items because campnics, which are like picnics, have gained popularity, increasing related demand. Emart's camping gear sales from January to April rose 24.8% compared to the same period last year. Camping tent sales increased by 55.8%, and camping tables and chairs also rose by 34.6% and 32.9%, respectively.

Emart stated, "With camping becoming more routine and popular, a large number of young and female customers have entered the market, and consumers who consider not only performance but also design elements have greatly increased," adding, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic blocking overseas travel, domestic travel has been revitalized, and as more people visit nearby parks or suburbs during their leisure time to enjoy light campnics, this trend is expected to accelerate."

Lee Byung-il, Emart's outdoor buyer, said, "Just as athleisure, which combines athlete and leisure, has established itself as a category, we believe the campnic-related market will grow rapidly in the future," and added, "Starting with the launch of Bigten×Jeon Hwang-il camping gear, we plan to actively develop and introduce products that reflect customers' tastes."
