Dongdaemun-gu to Recruit a Total of 329 People for Public Job Projects in the Second Half of the Year Knife Sharpening and Umbrella Repair Recycling

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) will provide public jobs to 329 employment-vulnerable individuals as part of employment measures for vulnerable groups affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, economic downturn, and employment instability.

The district plans to offer public jobs to the unemployed and vulnerable workers to supplement income and protect livelihoods. Additionally, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, personnel will be deployed to conduct daily quarantine measures such as temperature checks for visitors at public institutions and multi-use public facilities, thereby strengthening the ongoing quarantine response system.

Participants in this project will be divided into Dongdaemun Safe Jobs (158 people), Hope Work Jobs (153 people), and Community Jobs (18 people). They will work in 65 project areas including quarantine activities in vulnerable areas, reception and guidance at temporary COVID-19 screening clinics, park and stream maintenance, alleyway cleaning, knife sharpening, umbrella repair, and recycling projects.

The application period is from May 13 to May 24, and applications can be submitted at the resident center of the applicant’s neighborhood. Eligible applicants are residents of Dongdaemun-gu who are at least 18 years old as of the project start date (July 1), have work capability, and belong to households with income below 70% of the median income and assets under 300 million KRW.

The work period for community jobs is from July 1 to October 31, and for Safe Jobs and Hope Work Jobs, from July 1 to November 30.

After the application deadline, the district will review applications and select final participants. Results will be individually notified to successful applicants on June 25.

Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu stated, “I hope this project will help residents who are facing economic difficulties,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to support the economic participation of vulnerable groups.”
