Gyeongbuk Province Launches Feasibility Study for 'Agri-Food Industry Cluster' Linked to Integrated New Airport...

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 13th that it held the 'Feasibility Study Research Service for the Creation of an Agro-Food Industry Cluster' kickoff meeting at the provincial office on the 12th.

In response to the decision on the relocation site of the integrated new airport, Gyeongbuk Province explained that it expects a new turning point for the agro-food industry and plans to foster a 'fresh agricultural products export specialized complex' for the long-term export and stable supply of killer items such as Shine Muscat, pear, and oriental melon, preparing for the expansion of air export demand.

Along with the 'Agro-Food Export Comprehensive Support Center,' which functions as a control tower equipped with sorting and storage functions, export logistics management, and consultation facilities for overseas buyers arriving in Korea, a 'Organic Industry Complex Service Center' with a K-Food restaurant, local food direct sales store, and meeting plaza will be constructed.

With the improvement of the logistics environment due to the opening of the integrated new airport, the globalization of Gyeongbuk's specialty agricultural products shopping mall 'Saiseo' is expected to accelerate.

Gyeongbuk Province plans to complete the agro-food industry cluster by 2027, including establishing the 'Saiseo Luxury Complex Center' and 'Smart Farm Industrial Complex' to actively support Saiseo tenant companies' entry into Amazon and FDA approval.

This service includes ▲information surveys on regional economy, site characteristics, infrastructure, related businesses, workforce supply and demand, and land ▲feasibility study of cluster creation including industrial, locational, institutional aspects, expert consultation, and collection of residents' opinions ▲short- and mid-to-long-term strategies reflecting regional conditions such as vision, operational goals, effective layout strategies for major facilities, policy proposals, and comprehensive analysis.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, "If the service is completed by September, we plan to make every effort to secure the budget based on the discovered projects and create an agricultural complex near the integrated new airport that performs various functions such as agricultural production, processing, distribution, export, and research and development."
