The hole is too long: "Par 4 is 560 yards, Par 5 is 773 yards"... What about Par 6?

European Tour Costa Adeje Par 4 Hole 560 Yards Lee Chae, Korn Ferry Tour Colorado Par 5 Hole a Whopping 773 Yards, Korean Tour Geumgangsan Ananti Par 6 Hole 1016 Yards

The hole is too long: "Par 4 is 560 yards, Par 5 is 773 yards"... What about Par 6? Eduardo Molinari is teeing off at the 8th hole of Costa Adeje Golf Course during the 2nd round of the Canary Islands Championship.

[Asia Economy Golf Specialist Reporter Kim Hyun-jun] "Par 4 is 560 yards, Par 5 is 773 yards."

This is the story of the 'longest holes' in the global professional golf world. The 8th hole at Tenerife Costa Adeje Golf Course (Par 71) in Spain, the battleground of the European Tour Canary Islands Championship that ended on the 10th (Korean time), was set as a par 4 at 560 yards, drawing the spotlight. Last year, the PGA Tour Korn Ferry (2nd tier) Colorado Championship featured an astonishing 773-yard par 5 hole. The par 3 holes are also 273 yards. So, where is the longest par 6 hole?

It is noteworthy that the 8th hole at Costa Adeje is the second longest even when including the four par 5 holes: 1st hole (539 yards), 3rd hole (572 yards), 11th hole (521 yards), and 18th hole (548 yards). The starting point is that it is a downhill hole with a constant tailwind. Players actually approached the second shot with a short iron or wedge. Naturally, the tee shot is crucial. Securing the left side of the fairway is necessary to avoid trees and directly aim for the green.

The hole is too long: "Par 4 is 560 yards, Par 5 is 773 yards"... What about Par 6? The 18th hole at Chambers Bay Golf Course, the notorious long and challenging par-4 hole that hosted the 2015 US Open.

Regardless of the course’s special conditions, the longest and most difficult par 4 hole is the 14th hole (par 4, 546 yards) at Chambers Bay (par 70) on the outskirts of University Place, Washington State, USA, the venue of the 2015 US Open. It is a left dogleg, and tee shot accuracy determines the score. The United States Golf Association (USGA) added a dramatic twist by changing the 1st hole teeing ground location to transform it into a 496-yard par 4 or a 598-yard par 5, and the 18th hole into a 525-yard par 4 or a 604-yard par 5.

Although the 18th hole is 525 yards, its difficulty is higher. The 'ant waist' fairway has a bumpy surface, and the rough and bunkers act as traps that cost at least one stroke. Most players recorded over par, including the winner Jordan Spieth (USA), who suffered a double bogey on the second day playing it as a par 4 hole. Spieth’s major winning score was 6 under par, and only eight players finished under par.

The longest par 5 hole is the 13th hole at Colorado Golf Club in Brushwood, Colorado, USA (par 72), measuring 773 yards. Brushwood is located at an altitude over 1,500 meters, where air resistance is low, allowing the ball to fly farther. The next hole, the 14th (par 3), is 273 yards. Until 2018, the PGA Tour’s World Golf Championships (WGC) Bridgestone Invitational was held at the South Course of Firestone Golf Club in Akron, Ohio, USA, where the 16th hole boasted 667 yards.

The hole is too long: "Par 4 is 560 yards, Par 5 is 773 yards"... What about Par 6? Korean Tour 2007 Geumgangsan Ananti NH Nonghyup Open venue Geumgangsan Ananti Golf & Spa Resort course view.

It is interesting that there was a par 6 hole on the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour. It was the 12th hole at Geumgangsan Ananti Golf & Spa Resort (par 72) in Goseong, Gangwon Province, where the 2007 October Geumgangsan Ananti NH Nonghyup Open was held, measuring 1,016 yards. It is the only par 6 hole in professional golf history. Kim Hyung-tae (44) topped the leaderboard with 6 under par 282 strokes. Amateur golfers can experience playing a par 7 hole at Gunsan Golf Course in Jeonbuk Province, specifically the 3rd hole on the Jeongeup Course (1,098 yards).
