[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The fourth death of a Korean expatriate has occurred in India, where the number of new COVID-19 cases has remained in the 300,000 range for two consecutive days.


According to the local Korean community on the 12th, a Korean expatriate in his 40s, Mr. A, who tested positive for COVID-19, passed away yesterday at a hospital in Noida near the capital, New Delhi.


After testing positive, Mr. A's condition worsened, and with the help of the Re-India Korean Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in India, he was admitted to the intensive care unit with difficulty.


Previously, on the 19th of last month, a man in his 50s living in New Delhi, Mr. B, died from COVID-19. Including Mr. A, a total of four Korean expatriates have died from COVID-19.


According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of the 10th, there are 173 confirmed COVID-19 cases among Korean expatriates in India, with 115 having recovered. Currently, about 10 patients are hospitalized. However, it is believed that there may be additional unreported confirmed cases.


India has recently reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world for consecutive days. The daily number of new confirmed cases is around 350,000, and the number of new deaths reached a record high of 4,205 on this day.
